I went 2 weeks ago we got the bus on Ave Europa it's easy to find the Belroy hotel is on the corner. Not sure of the number but it is an Alsa bus it was still only 1 euro 50 we did stop in the old town but couldn't tell you where. We bought our tickets from the ticket office on avenue Europa where you get the airport bus we caught the half 1 bus but the ticket office closes at half 1 until 6.People did pay when they got on the bus so no problems there.Lovely place to visit and the chocolate factory is there.Hope that helps beach is also beautiful and houses are very pretty coloured houses.Jacky

If you don't mind a walk (mainly uphill) you can also take the train (tram) as an alternative, every half hour

Catch the alsa bus from Europa, also stops in the old town, cost one euro fifty single per person. See timetable on link.

In the Old Town, the ALSA bus stops on Av Jaime 1, just next to the BP petrol station, same side to Villajoyosa.

ALSA buses don't tend to have numbers, either a destination board if you are lucky or a card in the windscreen.
