Nonalcoholic drink recommendation

I’ll be arriving in Venice tomorrow and am looking for recommendations for non alcoholic drinks for cafes etc. Normally I get tea but I don’t recall tea being really a thing in Italy. (I don’t like coffee.)

Plus it looks like it’s going to be hot. (Making hot tea less appealing.) I don’t really drink soda except Ginger Ale occasionally. The rest is too sweet. Although I’ve gotten lemonade in the UK and liked it.

Thanks for any advice. Looking forward to Venice. Even the pricy touristy cafes. ;-)

Crodino is also good - not too sweet and nicely citrussy.

Acqua minerale... mineral waters. Nothing better. Refreshing. And the mineral balance may have health benefits. Certainly tasty. No ice please!

As Anna says try Crodino. Don’t be put off by the colour!

And San Pellegrino always refreshes.

I agree with lemon tea, very refreshing in the heat, I've saw cans and bottles of Liptons Lemon Tea in Italy

Gingerino, Crodino, and San Bitter are all popular non- alchoholic apertifs.

Chinotto, Gazzosa, Cedrata and Spuma are Italian soft drinks which are a bit less sweet than most soft drinks outside of Italy.

There are also Lemonsoda and Aranciata (orange soda) which are generally less sweet than their foreign counterparts, and Aranciata Amara which is definitely not sweet, and very refreshing.

I love iced tea, even southern sweet tea, but hate the preconfectioned Italian versions pre-sweetened and pre-infused with either peach or lemon. Yuck!

It’s more of a southern thing, but I’ve found it a few times in the north: tè fredda con granità. They make it with that awful bottled iced tea, but add granità, which transforms it into something refreshing on a hot day. Look for places with a granità machine.

Chinotto and Crodino are my usual go-tos, but Chinotto has a really high caffeine content.
