Our upcoming trip lands us in Sicily for three weeks before heading to Greece for two weeks. We have an unlocked (basic) phone that we use for foreign travel. Only interested in being able to call locally (hotels, restaurants, activities). Before arriving we have a five hour layover in London. My question is: is there an advantage or disadvantage of purchasing one in Italy or at London Gatwick? I have heard that there is no difference in cost of making calls within the EU. True? If there is no difference in cost, purchasing in London is just time efficient and the service provider would more likely speak English, right? Am I missing something?
