Uffizi Tickets

Does anyone know how strict the Uffizi museum is regarding show up times? We want to pre-purchase tickets but it seems we have to select a specific time in 15 minute increments. We will be on a tour and have limited time in Florence and we're not sure when our free time will begin. Are there other options that anyone can recommend to purchase tickets and skip to the head of the line?

Do not feel you absolutely positively must go to the Uffizi.

The Uffizi has a great collection of late Medieval and early Renaissance Florentine paintings. It is certainly not the only one. There are superb collections in Rome, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Vienna, New York, etc.

Lots and lots of people feel if they've gone all the way to Florence, they simply have to check the Uffizi off of their "must see" list. That means it's terribly crowded and not at all pleasant.

If you have a passionate interest in late Medieval and early Renaissance Florentine painting, by all means go. If you don't, don't.

Thank you Linda S. Your recommendation seems the best option. A couple of questions of you don't mind. Is there a special line for persons with reservation numbers? Does this allow us immediate entry? Time is of the essence with our schedule. Thanks again.
