BTW, how far is the train station to Accademia? What kind of transortation is available to get us there?
Check out this Google map that I have made gardkarlsen.com/Florence_Italy_google_map.htm . I have marked both Accademia and the train station and you can click on the various markers for more info :-) Here is my trip report with pictures and links gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm
If you know your way - or are good at reading a map - walking from the station to the Accademia shouldn't take more than about 15 minutes.
Go to www.viamichelin.com - the best interactive maps on the web. Key in directions from Piazza della Stazione to Piazza della Santissima Annunziata - which is east-northeast of the station, and you'll see how to get there.
Otherwise, it's about a 10 euro taxi fare, which might be the best way to do it. Then you can walk back, or wherever else you are going.
SMN train station is about a 10-15 minute walk to either the Uffizi or Accademia. If you wanted to try and make it from one museum to another you will need a map as there are many small streets in between.
