Amsterdam tours for those with mobility issues

Travelling to Amsterdam and one in our group has mobility issues (cannot walk long distances, able to climb stairs but slowly, tires easily so cannot keep up to the typical tour pace)

Looking for what to do the 3 days in and around the city in June. Enjoy architecture and smaller museums plus anything that is particularly Amsterdam.

Thanks

Hi,

A lot of museums(Rijks, van Gogh, Stedelijk, Amsterdam museum, Tropenmuseum, Tassenmuseum) have an elevator. In most of these museums you can also can get a wheelchair or small chair. If someone can push the wheelchair this would be a solution.

The smaller museums (eg Museum van Loon) are less likely to have a elevator since they are situated in old buildings.

I can remember that the Anne Frank museum has a lot of stairs.

Do a canal cruise, maybe two — one during the day and one at night. We prefer the smaller boats; consider a private tour for your group.

Learn the tram routes, which will save some walking. (I’ve been to Amsterdam with my 80+ year old mother twice in the past few years — and don’t recommend the Anne Frank house if stairs are a problem.)

There are number of museums in Amsterdam (Rijks, van Gogh, Stedelijk, Sex museum) with convenient amenities such as elevators, lifts. So do not worry you will have fun at the place for sure.
