Best beach town/city for a married couple (20's)

We are going to Lisbon at the start of June and want to go to a good beach town. Preferably with a decent night life (that isn't just stag parties), good food and beaches. Was thinking Lagos but I have no idea? Is all of the Algarve very resorty?

Yes, in summer certainly. And it is 300km from Lisbon. Why not look for somewhere near Lisbon that isn't over-run with British, Germans and Dutch - like Estoril or Cascais?

No, not all of the Algarve but it's a tourist destination. Lagos is a working city but also has tourism. Otherwise you could check out Cascais near Lisbon.

If your June dates include June 12, that's a night to be in Lisboa and watch the city festivities.

Cascais it is! Cheers for the advice. Anything we shouldn't miss in particular?
