Sfinari is the only place on the West coast that is what you describe, just a little beach & a few tavernas.

Falasarna is a group of 5 wonderful beaches th some accommodation spread out around the area, that might work for you. Kavousi hotel maybe; it's a small hotel with apartments & fabulous views, on the hill 2km from the beaches.

It depends a little on when you will travel, as the season is getting busier now so not many places on the beach are really quiet & did you mean only on the West coast as there isn't a lot there?

p.s. before I get pulled up for it ;-) Sougia is actually the south west coast (but on Crete it is a long way west :-))

Did you really mean the west coast, fel2nval? If you did, your post is a perfect description of Sfinari, a village and beach in magnificent surroundings on Crete's "wild west" coast, miles from nowhere (a long, long way from Chania airport) with about three tavernas. If that's what you're looking for, that's the place to go. But it really is remote: you'd have to have a car (and an early arrival flight to give you plenty of time to drive there in daylight along narrow, twisty mountain roads).

If you want something a little less remote, more easily reachable, and with a bit more to do, look at Sougia, on the south west coast: a friendly village with an excellent beach and about seven or eight tavernas - too many for you, perhaps :o)?

Falassarna, as described by Jill F, is also a possibility, but it's getting quite popular with day trippers now and although it's remote enough it might be a bit busier than you want.

If any of our suggestions appeals to you, please do come back with specific questions.

Sfinari would certainly fit the bill. There are three very good tavernas right on the beach, although the beach itself is not the greatest. You can drive there in under two hours from Chania airport. The road only gets twisty in the last few miles, after Platanos.

For beaches, go for Falassarna. It has no real centre and is quite spread out, so you can find a quiet spot if you want to.

Sounds as if you've been indulging in some daydreaming, fel2. Villas right on a beach are harder to come by in Greece -- and with an infinity pool to boot! Think about it ... isolated, but with an expensive luxury amenity installed. Hmm. Also, you do not mention WHEN you plan to go, that affects availability -- especially if you are inquiring now about getting something for this July or August. If you want the most helpful advice, please give key details of dates & budget range ...

You will find an infinity pool only in the most expensive upmarket hotels in the most popular resorts on the north coast! So no:what you’re asking for isn’t possible. I doubt you’ll find many villas, either, in or near the places so far suggested, where the accommodation is mostly simple, clean and basic.

What do you really want, and when, and what is your budget? Please be precise now, and realistic, so that we can make realistic suggestions that will help you towards the holidaying you want .

I am (obviously) out of date. Perhaps this is what the OP is looking for.
