Hi there

Officially it finishes at the end of October, but there’s no set dates really it often depends on how many visitors are staying in the resort, after all there’s no point remaining open if there are no customers, you of course have half term at the end of October, so you won’t go hungry, but it’s going to be very very quiet, so depends on what you want really. If you want somewhere with more choices then check, out the local towns, e,g Agios Nikolaos a longer transfer time (50mins drive from Heraklion airport ) or Rethymnon a 1 hour 15 mins drive from Heraklion.

It finishes at the end of October and whilst things start to get quieter throughout October it is a month that is getting more popular (so busier) every year.

October is a lovely month to visit Crete, we visit every year at this time. Things are starting to quieten down in the resorts (I think of resorts as being more geared for tourists) towards the latter part of Oct, but if you go to one of the towns/villages where Greek people live and work all year round things will still be open. MG has made some good suggestions with Agios Nikolaos and Rethymnon if you’re flying into Heraklion.

If you have the option to fly into Chania, then Chania Old Town is a lovely option with its Venetian harbour and lots to do and see. If you want somewhere quieter and have a car, have a look at Kalyves which is about 30 mins from Chania. Kalyves is a Greek town/ large village with several nice beaches and is a good base to explore the Apokoronas region with its traditional village just a short drive away.
