Hi. I know it will be coming to the end of the season there but has anyone been at half term time and knows what the temperature/rainfall normally is? Thanks
I was house hunting in Halkidiki in mid October 2 years ago and whilst it was sunny it wasn't sunbathing/beach weather. Pleasant to sit out and have a coffee and comfortable enough in t-shirt and jeans but I don't recall anyone on the beach. It was also very quiet with most places closed or closing down for the winter especially in the main tourist areas.
We visited Sani in September last year and it was very quiet even then. If you have a beach holiday in mind I wouldn't recommend Halkidiki in October. The best weather is June to August although May and September can be lovely too but more risky.
What Judy has written above, is exactly the case for Halkidiki.
October is pretty quite, but if you would like to travel around a little bit if you rent a car, I am sure that you'll find some nice places to see and some nice things to do.
I believe that you'll be able to swim at the sea as well if the weather is good, as during October, the water is not cold yet, but you also have the chance of swimming at the pool.
If what you have in mind though, is an absolute beach - sun type of holiday, I am afraid that October is indeed not the month to do it.
If this is not what you only had in mind, then I 'd say go ahead and enjoy your holidays at the "autumn" Halkidiki! :-)
thanks so much for the reply - we are definitely after a bit of sun -not boling hot but hot enough for small children to swim in pool so we will give it a miss until next summer. Thanks very much for the replies.
