Northern Lights

Hi I hope I am posting this to the right forum.

I very much want to see the northern lights and my husband and children love skiing. Is it possible to combine the two in Finland? If so where is the best area/resort to look at?

We are thinking of coming in February 2013- and know it will be very cold !

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Western Finland is definitely not an area where you can usually expect to see Northern Lights although they are occasionally visible. They are pretty frequent in Lapland http://www.laplandfinland.com/In_English.iw3 which also provides plenty of ski resorts that are quite nice in February. Kilpisjärvi claims to be the best area to observe Northern Lights in Finland. This might even be true, since although Utsjoki is further north it did not seem to be much of a ski resort.
