We are going to Malta in summer '08 and looking for recommended reading where Malta is the setting or partial setting for any fictional books.

For example, Dorothy Dunnett's The Disorderly Knights.

I had found a list on a a web site but can no longer locate it!

Any suggestions?

I'm not one of lifes great readers but The Sword and the Scimitar by Ernle Bradford was very good.

I would suggest looking at;

https:/…

There are lots to choose from and also broken into sections for fiction, war, etc

Hi, my favourite book, set in Malta is "The Brass Dolphin" by Joanna

Trollope. Its a beautiful love story with lots of references to the Island and its people.Probably more suited to female readers.

Hi

1. Sword & the Scimitar by David Ball

2. Kapillan of Malta by Nicholas Monseratt

3. Night Sky Dreaming by Laurence E Fischer

4. Brass Dolphin by Joanna Trollope

5. Fortress Malta by James Holland

6. Of Craft & Honour by George Gregory Buttigieg

There is a bookshop in Malta called Sapienzas on Republic Street in Valletta. Google them and email them and I'm sure they would be happy to recommend any other books

Thanks for the great ideas!

This will keep me and my partner going for awhile.

Had not thought about it in the original posting but would also like some recommendations for a boy of eight.

Cheers!

Can't think of anything off the top of my head for a boy of 8, do you mean books set in Malta too. In that case I would suggest contacting Sapienzas and they might be able to help you
