A third place to visit

I'm going to Belgium in July and will be visiting Luxembourg too. I know Luxembourg city and Vianden are two places that are often recommended so I will go there but I will have time for a third place...just can't decide. I love good architecture, history, picturesque towns, nature too but I wouldn't want it to be too far from a train station or bus stop. Any suggestions?

Trier, the oldest German town just across the border. Trains run every hour, return ticket costs EUR 9.60, journey time less than an hour (beautiful vineyard scenery from the train window).

I would certainly rate Trier above either Vianden or Clervaux - and it is a total contrast to Luxembourg city.
