Der Freischütz is interesting from an historical prospective. I've only seen it once.

Tosca is simply wonderful. I've seen several performances.

I would not sit through Lohengrin without substantial payment.

If you have never seen Tosca then that's the one to see.

For an opera newbie definitely Tosca. It’s a solid traditional production which I really enjoyed.

Tosca.

I wouldn’t even with substantial payment. :-/

Lohengrin is great if you already know that you are a fan of Wagner. If not, then not. Freischütz I dimly remember from school - surprisingly dull for an opera about a contract with the devil. Definitely Tosca for you.

"I wouldn't sit through Lohengrin without substantial payment"

And as Rossini is reputed to have said " Wagner has some wonderful moments ----- and some dreadful half hours"
