Hardangerfjord

Can someone please suggest the route for car for the best way to explore Hardangerfjord from Bergen. I would like to return to Bergen the same night and ideally would like to cover as much as possible.

There’s about four different routes you can drive out to Hardanger and one of them back again...

Please open Google Maps and check it out, and start for example with this one; Bergen - Baroniet Rosendal - Odda - Lofthus - Granvin - Bergen ...

Thanks a lot. There is apparently a huge difference in time in terms of what a Google map may suggest . May I check with you what according to you is the total time for the drive including the ferry ?

Bergen to Odda and back is some 6 hours driving only. So consider a smaller loop leaving time for more breaks and strolls.

There are few roads so few Choices actually, basically road 7 and 13, and perhaps include the Folgefonna penninsula at Jondal, Rosendal or Utne

Here is a "short" loop, 6,5 hours drive included two ferries, not included any waiting time. But, very scenic.

An alternative is Hardangerfjord in a nutshell, involving train to Voss, bus to Ulvik and boat on the Hardangerfjord. https:/…

Both suggerstions are good.

If you want a little longer trip, the Eidfjord area is quite interesting. Kjeåsen mountain farm, Måbødalen canyon and Vøringsfossen waterfall. Also Mauranger/Rosendal (incl. Folgefonna) is nice.

Am quite tempted to take this ambitious route as suggested by you. Can i bother you a bit more by asking what are the stops that are covered in the route https://goo.gl/maps/fZZgoxePKBG2, how much time typical would each place consume ?

Steinsdalsfossen is close to the road, so not more than half an hour; Rosendal Baroni I would say two hours, it desedrves at least one; the bridge is a bridge, but there is a lookout stop at the south side where you can have a better look at it - for a few minutes.
