Hi, we need to get from Heathrow airport to Ayot st Lawrence on Thursday morning, October 6, 2017. We've been told that National Express runs coaches from Heathrow to Welwyn Garden City, but no one seems sure of where we would go from there. We will have one checked-in bag and two smaller pieces of carry-on luggage. Any help would be appreciated

38 helpful votes Yes it will have to be taxi, there is no other public transport to Ayot St Lawrence.
The bus to Welwyn Garden City is the 724, it is operated by Green Line/Arriva rather than National Express. You pick it up at Central Bus Station (between Terminals 2 and 3) and you can pay the driver on boarding. It runs hourly (2-hourly on Sundays).
Edited: 5 years agoMany thanks for that. Any idea how much a taxi fare might set us back -- and no likely problems getting a taxi for that journey mid morning??? I forgot to mention that we are going to the Brocket Arms

38 helpful votes The bus station in Welwyn Garden City is right next to the railway station, so there will be a taxi rank very close by. Sorry no idea of the cost.
