Kinsale or Cobh ??

Have trip planned in June--presently after 2 days in Dublin then driving Tuesday am to Cobh for Titanic experience and then on to Kinsale for 1 night before going through Blarney on way for 3 nights in Killarney--then 2 nights Dingle and 2 nights in Galway before final night in Dublin. All hotels / bandbs are booked.

QUESTION--should we reconsider staying the one night in Cobh instead of Kinsale ? Opinions and suggestions appreciated--Thanks.

There is about an hour between Cobh and Kinsale. Why move? Take those 2 nights and combine them in or around Cork. Less packing and moving is more time to do things. Another advantage is you'll be only about 20 minutes from Blarney. You could go and tour Titanic and Blarney in one day. Stop in Midleton and visit the Jameson Distillery if time allows.

Cobh, Kinsale is overcrowded, over priced and over hyped. I'd never, ever visit there, except over the winter and even then with a good deal of scoping out.Unless of course, your idea of fun is wall to wall tourist.

No Harvey, Dingle is overcrowded, wall to wall tourist, over priced and over hyped.

Kinsale is the posh suburb of Cork, ideal for Golf and Yacht types who love to pay for foodie type reputations.

Personally I would have 1 night for Cork area only 1 for Dingle and put a night between Dingle and Galway so that you can see some of Clare on the way up. But with accommodation Booked..

Good to know.

I have planned 2 nights in Cobh because it was small, looked very cute with a lot of things to do in town or close by.

Will be Ireland last 2 weeks in May!

Can't imagine I can make a bad decision about where to go.

Ah Tony, never one to miss a chance to snipe at Dingle. It's amusing at this stage. Dingle certainly isn't over priced and with you to shoot it down at every turn , it's certainly not over hyped either. I really do wonder at times if you were sent home from Irish college or something to justify your naked and blatant hatred of Dingle ;)

I'm a Cork native, so am allowed to criticize places in my own county.Kinsale is NOT a suburb of Cork, the place you describe sounds more like Crosshaven.

Kinsale is the jewel in the crown, but you need time to explore it's soul.

With just one day, maybe give it a miss.

I don't hate Dingle Harvey, I don't hate anywhere Kinsale, Dingle and a couple of other places are on my nice to visit wouldn't stay there list. The main thing I dislike about Dingle is the attitude that the place is the be all and end all. Its a former fishing town making its living off the tourist trade just like Kinsale the difference is I can say that about Kinsale without getting hate mail.
