2 Free Days SW Ireland, what to see?

After a lot of tinkering this is what I've come up with.

Day 1

Land in Dublin Travel to Cliffs of Moehr; find place to overnight

Day 2

See Cliffs; Rest of Day free

Day 3

Free Day

Day 4

Travel to Dublin, Flyout in the evening

CAN NOT add more days, fly in / out of anywhere else, miss the Cliffs

ARE INTERESTED in seeing any of the following: the countryside, a castle, natural views

+

Flight leaves 1900 on Day 4, give us entire day to drive back to Dublin, return the car, and handle the airport

-

Will be there in October not sure how the weather will be

Questions:

1. Can anyone recommend a nice B&B type place near the Cliffs of Moher?

2. Any idea on what to see on the uncommitted time?

3. What is the drive from Dublin to the Cliffs like? Is it mostly highway?

Im thinking we may have to limit ourselves to the area between Galway and Shannon. Would trying to drive to Kilarney, the Dingle Pennisula, or the Ring of Kerry be too ambitious?

Thank you!

go down the coast from the COM and see Loop Head, much more exciting IMO, no fences no tourist traps, do what I did, crawl to the edge, look over and crawl back 50 yards before daring to stand up!! Its the closest thing to flying ever.

maybe:

day 1 doolin, cliffs of moher

day 2 doolin, one of the aran islands

day 3 bunratty, visit the village and attend the ceili in the castle in the evening

day 4 dublin

of course if you are going to have to deal with jet lag, do be very careful as it can hit you when you least expect...but if you get sleepy you could go to your b&b and take a little nap and then see the cliffs as they are only about ten minutes for doolin....

I recommed staying at Twin Peaks B & B

Any idea on what to see on the uncommitted time?

Burren is a restfull stop.

The Higway is not too scenic, but the drive should not take you more than three hours with stops.

In my opinion, the Cliffs are not worth the time to see. We took a boat ride as well visiting them up close. You are there, however, and I suppose someone will ask you did you go. You have to answer "of course".
