Are there any shops in vilamoura other than the expensive ones round the marina? Souvenir shops etc.

To my mind, not. Vilamoura is expensive all over, but all being well a regular visitor may have found one.

Perhaps in the Avenida Tivoli ?

Vilamoura is not expensive all over , like many other places it can be as cheap or dear as you want it to be , I can quote a restaurant doing a 3 course meal with wine for 7.50 and that,s close to the marina , also inbetween the overpriced designer shops around the marina you will still find normal shops . There are several souvenir type shops on the streets next to the marina but if you want real bargains then have a look at Quarteira especially the chinese run shops . There is even a pound /euro shop .

Any ideas on any good reasonably priced restaurants? Do you know the name of the one you mentioned?

It is nice to hear Coventrykid who I agree with that Vilamoura is not expensive as many contributors are always saying and generally those who stay outside Vilamoura and even around the Marina one can often find special prices. would that restaurant quoted by Coventrykid be the Universal.???.

Now there is the walkway between Vilamoura I tend to walk there partly to look around the Fish Market or go to a Pastearia for coffee a cake or roll so much cheaper than what I paid in my local city for two coffees and 2 sandwiches almost £17.

It's only really upmarket around the marina where you can observe the (mostly false) opulence ,if you get fed up with that then regular visitors will recommend the squares set back from the marina (behind the Irish pub) , the restaurants there have to survive on their reputations and they do just that .ps Hi Flubert ,yes the Universal it is !

I have often used those Restaurants on the upper square for many years the A/Broa always had a very good meal, My first Restaurant which I go to on my first night is Chinese and that is the ZU YI and it is always on our last night 3 weeks later, My first visit to the Marina way back in 1984 only one end of the Marina was operational, my how things have changed, there are a couple of Supermarkets where the old casino and cinema were but cant remember the name of the location, its me age .....
