Tours

My boyfriend and I will be going to excellence Riviera Cancun in 3 weeks and the main attraction for us was to be able to visit chichen itza. I've done some research for the best tour but can't make a decision. We're looking for a private tour, preferably visiting more than one destination. Who have you used? Anything I found was $200+ per person. Is that to be expected for a private tour?

Yes, private tours are very expensive. Consider either renting a car and driving yourself, or going with someone who does a small group tour. Yucatreks gets good reviews and has small vans with 12-16 people and does a tour to CI, cenote, lunch and stop in Valladolid.

For a private tour that’s not a bad price. Gas is very expensive in Mexico and if there are only two of you the guide isn’t going to make much money.

We did a recent small group tour to Chichen Itza w/ Eric of Ecab Explorer (based in PM) for a little over $100 pp. It included lunch, a cenote, and a few other stops and lasted about 12 hrs. The problem will be if he doesn't have enough people sign up, then he may not do the tour. On the day we went he was ok with only 4 people but I don't know if this is the norm.

You can get private tour pricing on line at Canada Transfers and USA Transfers. Not sure what it is but both sites show it.
