Great Alpine Road

Hi,

Me and my brother are planning a road trip for the next few days from Phillip Island, Melbourne, to Sydney, probably along the Great Alpine Road. Probably gonna be looking for two or three days on the trip, are there any must sees/itinery tips you can give for travelling between Melbourne and Sydney. What should we see, where should we go, where should we stay??

Thank you!!

The Great Alpine Rd goes from Wangaratta to Bairnsdale.

I suggest going to Bairnsdale first if you are at Phillip Island, then via Omeo to rejoin with the Hume. You can go through Beechworth and Yackandandah before getting to ALbury.

May not have to put snow chains on near Hotham, but the road may be icy.

Cheers

GAR - see the link for ideas - look at google maps for the route and start at Bairnsdale (after Philip Island)

Definitely go through Bairnsdale. St Mary's Church is such a monstrous beautiful building in the middle of nowhere.
