You won't do much better than Park Hyatt to meet your criteria .Good luck!
Yes agree Circular Quay is prime location. Luxury will depend on your budget limit. Park Hyatt already mentioned is prime, although fairly low rise. High level rooms/suites at the Shangri-la & Four Seasons would also be worth considering for the best views.Edited: 02 December 2010, 15:29
The Park sounds great, but a little steep per night. I was hoping to keep it under $500 a night. I have looked at the Quay Grand, but it seems more like an apartment. I think we might prefer more of a high rise hotel or one with some historic charm. Thanks again!
"I was hoping to keep it under $500 a night"
only goes to prove that one of the main criteria for accommodation questions on this forum is some indication of a budget.
Quay Grand is apartments but that is a good thing. Plenty of room, balconies to sit on outside to enjoy the views, great windows for the views if weather not so good, fully furnished, great kitchen (especially since Sydney is so expensive), private laundry facilities, great concierge service, great location.
For location, Quay Grand Suites is unmatched - a short stroll to the Opera House. View of the Harbour Bridge and quay. You can't see the OH from the balcony but who cares when you can walk there in 3 minutes?
Lots of nightlife.
It is arguably the most prestigious apartment block in the country.
Tripadvisor recently named it the best 'luxury hotel' in the South Pacific - as voted by travellers.
I agree with the previous poster.
