GBR trip from Port Douglas

We are travelling to Port Douglas in 3 weeks and would like some advice regarding GBR trips.

Ideally, we are looking for a half day trip from Port Douglas. One of us is not a swimmer, so would probably need a trip which goes to an island where we can get off and try snorkelling at their own pace.

Thanks in advance.

Because of the time needed to get to the Reef by conventional boat, almost all GBR trips are full day tours. But Reef Sprinter, which uses jet boats, offers a half-day tour to either the Low Isles or the Outer Reef. And Sailaway offers a half-day sunset cruise to the Low Isles with snorkeling.

For a non-swimmer, a trip to the Low Isles would work but be aware that the Low Isles are not the Outer Reef. The snorkeling will be good, but not as impressive as snorkeling at the Outer Reef.

If you are willing to consider a full day excursion, you could go to the Outer Reef with Quicksilver. Quicksilver goes to a large fixed pontoon on the Outer Reef. Non-swimmers can experience the Reef via glass-bottom boat rides, semi-submersible rides and an underwater viewing observatory.
