Best location for young family

Hi there,

we are 4 adults and 1 toddler looking for a nice relaxing holiday in KI in November for 2 weeks. We are wondering which part of the island to stay on and if we should perhaps split it up a bit 1 week in 1 place and 1 week in another.

Just want to be in nice, quiet, beautiful area maybe with walks and/or beach close by. We would look for self catering accommodation.

Would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

We booked a house through stays and it was on the edge of kingscote. Stayed for 4 nights. Easy to get around and could walk into town and extremely central to all parts of the island.

We stayed at the Hanson cabins at the western side of KI and loved it. It's basic but selfcontained. No TV. Beaches are close by and location is down right spectacular but maybe it's too basic and remote for you.

we took the family (me and hubby, Mum and Dad, my brother and his 4 kids to Middle River on the North Coast and hired a property with adjoining houses. It was a short trip to beach, with a sandy bay that was quite calm, the property had a dam with yabbies (yumm) and it was close to the wild life park, the Stokes bay Garden, while being a nice rural retreat.

It was easy enough to drive into Parndana, or through to the attractions near Kingscote.

Depends on how away from it all you want to be

Hanson Cabins are in a great location, I also think that a house overlooking Penneshaw or Emu Bay would be ideal for a young family. Middle River homestead (as above) is another good idea.

If you can give us an idea of your expected budget it would help?

Houses overlooking Emu Bay and Island Beach are amazing - one week at Island Beach would be great for a young family... shallow clear waters and most of these are self catering. Island Beach is reasonably close to Penneshaw and about a 30min drive to Kingscote. Flinders Chase and Seal Bay are a lot further away so you may want to stay closer for these in your other week.
