What part of Costa Rica? Which resorts?

We have never been to Costa Rica, we are in our mid 40's celebrating our 25th anniversary is the fall. I am just looking for direction and recommendations as to what part of Costa Rica people recommend, why and the names of resorts and why you recommend them. I need a starting point, we are not partiers, we are looking for nice pools, quiet, relaxed and secluded a bit. Thanks in advance.

So, you are looking for an all inclusive resort? Those are in the province of Guanacaste. Lots of Canadian travel agencies have convenient on line lists - tripcentral, selloff, etc. If you want to see a list of AI from a different source - https://www.anywhere.com/costa-rica/hotels . I like how the hotels r organized by categories, though trying to book on line on their site may make it seem as available, while in reality the hotel has no availability left, so IMHO, it is always better to contact properties directly.

Lots of visitors to CR do their own vacations. You can look for properties that offer breakfast or half board (breakfast and dinner) or full board, or look for properties that offer access to places to eat near by, as well as individual or shared kitchens just in case you r too tired to go out.

Your locations might be determined by the season (weather, prices) and the length of your trip. In one week, you can do 1-2 locations, in 10-14 days - more, depending on your travel style.

If you mean Sept. -Oct. when you say "in the fall", the weather should be sunnier in S. Caribbean - look at Cahuita, Punta Uva, Manzanillo for beaches, wildlife, jungle. Lots of accommodation choices, but not AIs.

Good starting point - costa-rica-guide.com/travel/… for the weather, by month.

Destinations Summary - twoweeksincostarica.com/costa-rica-destinati… .

Transportation options in CR - https:/…Transportation.html . If you decide to rent a car, do plenty of research, incl. on this forum, re recommended rental Cos and the insurance issues. Alternatives are prebooked shared shuttles, domestic flights, private transfers. Depends on your budget.

CR is expensive, especially for CAD. We found the food prices and especially tour prices very high in comparison to what we are used to, and we r not just talking about N. America, but about our fairly extensive travel experience to other countries.
