Gdansk or Wroclaw, August 2018 x3 days

Hi all, looking at cheap flights for Gdansk or Wroclaw in mid-August 2018 for four nights/three days and would appreciate some advice from more seasoned travellers! Will be travelling with wife, both of us in late-20s.

Never been to Poland. Live in middle of Mediterranean (Malta), so not mad on seeing more sun and seaside particularly and certainly won’t be looking to sunbathe, swim, windsurf or anything like that!

Like exploring historical cities, castles and culture. Enjoy natural scenery. Prefer locations where easy to travel on foot/by tram.

Any and all advice appreciated!

I haven't been to Wroclaw but I had an excellent stay in Gdansk which is perfect for a few days. It's possible to take the train to Malbork Castle for the day which is a great day trip. Have a look at my trip report and photos for further information:-

Enjoy!

Wroclaw is the Best European Destination 2018 but can be boring for 4 night stay. Gdansk will be centre of Universe in mid of August (especially until 19th August). Please read short guide around TriCity https://guide.trojmiasto.pl/

Additionally you can visit on of the biggest European castles in Malbork, take the boat trip to Hel peninsula, visit German Death Camp Stutthof or relax in Kashuby lakeside. Three days will not be enough to see everything :-)

So fly to Gdansk and visit lovely Wroclaw next time

I agree with Hoshi-San, even though Wrocław is great too, for your first time in Poland you should go to Gdańsk. And even though it's located on the seaside, you don't have to go to the beach at all, you'll have plenty of other things to do.

Id recommend you Gdansk! You have many attractions there, rather then in Wroclaw. You can go to the beach, visit Old Town, take train to Malbork Castle or another cities that are located very near to Gdansk (10-15min by train) like Sopot or Gdynia.
