Hotel Mercure Buda Castle District

Any ideas for somewhere to have breakfast each day very close by please?

We don't want to eat at the hotel, we like to explore!

Hi Adam,

You're in a solid location across the street from a large park, and immediately behind the Castle District. You are just a 2-3 minute walk to the metro and tram lines that can whisk you around the city. As for breakfast, what food types are you looking for? Some local spots to have a look include Deryne http://www.bistroderyne.com/your-bistro.html This bistro sits about a 5-minute walk out your door to the right on Krisztina Korut. The food is solid, however the service is too aloof for my tastes. Only if the chef could deliver the food to my table. Deryne serves wonderful breads and has a breakfast menu.

You can also head for the metro and grab some local baked goods from the small bakeries. These goods, many called pogasca (po-gotcha) are small flour-based scone like item. Quite tasty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogácsa They will also have sweet pastries. A 2 minute walk.

Another option, closer to the Vienna gate to the castle, say a 20 minute walk is Hotel Castle Garden. Normally, I would not recommend a hotel, but the breakfast there is quite good and convenient if you are planning to tour around the castle one morning. http://en.hotelcastlegarden.com/

Let me know what type of food you are after, and atmosphere and maybe I can point you in different/better direction.

There is a grocery store right behind the hotel with a standup coffee bar near the entrance. They also have a bakery department. It's on the way to the metro.
