Day trip

My wife and I are in Budapest. We are wanting to take the trip to Eger in the morning. What is the best way to get there we have no car and will need to take public transportation.

P.S. We have been here for 4 days are loving this stop on our trip!

When we went we took the train, but there is both a train that, while it makes a few stops, goes directly to Eger and another that makes a stop where you change trains. We took the former going and the latter returning. We read in a guidebook that it was earlier to hop a cab to get from the train station to the Valley of Beautiful Women where the caves are located and found this to be accurate. And bring a tote as you will likely want to bring a few bottles back with you.

.....and there's also the bus from the Stadion busz station every 30 minutes at quarter to and past the hour, direct to the centre of Eger, costs about the same as the train (c 2,500 huf) each way and depending whether you get the express or not takes between 2 hours and 2 hours 20.
