trip report

starting week 2 here and love it here

staying at maras place good choice, nice place rooms are cleaned everyday , very nice friendly ppl, i will do a review

got here on saturday but our checked bag didnt get here till monday evening, several items were stolen ,but my fishing gear made it

the second camera and wifes watch are among the missing .

krissa did all the leg work to track it down and get it here without being asked, that says a lot about a place

we came via halifax to new york on american airelines, new york to el salvador to belize on taca air, taca air found the bag and had tropic air fly it to caye caulker, taca is blaming tropic for the stolen items and want us to file a report in belize city on our way out

weather has been great rain at night, windy last 2 days but nice

bone fish can be caught with a lot of wading , great fun

food is everyehere and good

glendas on back street is only open for breakfast and lunch

very good and cheap

renias on middle street is only open for breakfast and lunch

wife had an egg and ham sandwic with coffee for 5.00bz very good

there is a little shack acruss the road from the bank that is only open for breakfast , very good fryjacks for 1.50 to 3.50bz

bambooz for lunch was good

jolly rogers for dinner was ok

wish willies for dinner was good

all the street food is good

better prices are on middle and back street

beer from the beer truck ,a case of 24 costs 61.00bz for the first one then 50bz to trade for another

we love it here

more to come

Do you know what the cost of the beer would have been, had you picked it up from the distributor yourself?

On Ambergris, the cost of a case of beer from the distributor is BZ$50.00. Plus, deposit. I'm guessing it's the same on Caulker.

pig roast was very good but drinks are way over priced

there is a new jet ski rental next to maras place

there building a coffee/pastery shop at maras it wont be open before we leave

if anyone is afraid of dogs this isnt the place for you, havent seen a mean dog at all,but there everywhere and friendly

to much street food to list, all very good

having done AI a few times this is far better

we will be back,, another part of belize, love it here but want to see more

already missing belize, we fell in love with the country and will return

we put ourselves on a budget to see if belize could be a winter home for us

and yup no problem there, very cheap to eat if you look around and go to middle and back street, 1 barrel rum and beer from the distributer are the way to go,ppl are very friendly, the lazy lizzard is way over rated but thats where everyone goes, go to the split but not the bar there , unless you dont care about overpriced drinks,

not an easy place to get to from eastern canada, but worth the hastle

we had to pay an exit fee of 78.50 usd (for the 2 of us)

and we never saw any crime
