Is it Safe to Travel to Belize?

I am considering a one-week trip to Belize in November. We are flying into Belize City and then driving to Orange Walk. We also plan to visit San Narcisco for missionary work.

Are these safe areas to go to? I am concerned about the fact that Belize borders Mexico and Guatemala. Is there anything I need to consider about making this trip, i.e. I am diabetic and must be careful about what I eat, and I'm told bread, beans, and rice are popular meals.

I am a diabetic also from Punta Gorda you will not have problems very safe area. Just bring all the meds you need with you inc test strips
