Hi,
I have a group of 21 students What are the options from getting from
Cancun to Orange walk?
Regards,
Greg
1. ADO overnight express bus. Leave Cancun at 10:15 pm and arrive at OW around 6am. The fare is about 500 pesos.
2. Any ADO bus to Chetumal where you change to a Belizean bus to OW. The ADO fare is about 450 pesos (check the ADO website for exact fares and schedule), and the Belizean bus fare is about BZ$7.
3. Hire a private shuttle/transfer service. One of the few based in Corozal would be the best choice. See the "BelizeBus" website for a list of transfer services.
4. A flight from Cancun to Belize City, then bus, taxi or transfer service to OW. Not likely that you would choose this, but it is an option.
Thanks fore your info. What about the Border costs?
I assume that you and your group are Canadian.
If you fly from Canada or USA to Mexico, the airline collects the valid Mexico Tourist Fee. It should appear on your airline receipt as a "UK" code and be about CA$20 to $30 (it's actually 306 pesos). On the plane, you should be issued the FMM tourist card.
If the tourist fee appears on your airline receipt, you do not have to pay anything when you enter or leave Mexico. However, when you leave Mexico, Immigration officials often ask visitors for money. If they ask, just show a copy of the airline receipt -- the officer will probably keep the copy. There is no departure fee.
If the payment is not shown on the receipt or you do not have a receipt, then be prepared to argue as much as you want -- often it's a case of who gives up first -- but be prepared to fork over 300 pesos or U$20 or $30 per person.
Entering Belize -- no fees.
Leaving Belize at a land border -- BZ$37.50 per person. There are similar fees if departing at the International airport, but I think the fees are now included in the airline ticket prices.
