Hi
Can we go to Lamanai from Belize city in the morning and be back by noon?
I understand we can have a taxi do it but there is an option to go with boat?

You can go by road or (highly recommended) to Orange Walk by road and up the New River in a boat to the Maya site. Either way it doesn't seem likely you could leave in the morning - even with a very early start - and make it back by noon. I've only visited the river route, hopefully others can chime in about the road route.

I would suggest you inquire from many of the tour companies that specialize in tours to Lamanai. You have to arrive by boat. We're booked with King David Castillo for Feb. but there were others good also. A taxi will be incredibly expensive and a guide will add to your enjoyment of seeing the site.

There is a road route, too - our daughter and her husband visited that way years ago. Lots of time on not-so-great roads, though.

No. The trip is about 2.5 hrs each way. Boats do not depart for the site till about 9 or so
