See topic. Is this even possible or is everything blocked off?

Thanks.

Sorry Andy,

You will get arrested if you are trespassing and that will be a bummer for your holiday.

The best way to see it is from a helicopter.

Also, this is a disaster zone. So many people in dire need that have lost their homes. Heartbreaking!

It is not an area for tourists at the moment.

It depends on what you mean by "view." You can see the red glow from the fissure by night from several vantage points from Hilo to Pahoa, but no, please don't even try to get up close and personal to "Fissure 8." The area is completely closed to tourists.

There's a pretty good webcam view on the HSGS Kilauea site...

Here's a great helicopter video from June 9. This is taken by officials monitoring the flow and not what you would be seeing on a public helicopter tour which would be flying over the ocean.

Their videos are some of the best we are seeing on our nightly news. Andy, a couple of years ago you could walk/bicycle about 7 miles round trip to see the lava flow. This time, is so much more different.

The 4 PM update says that gas emissions have nearly doubled at fissure 8 since yesterday--not a good sign. There are also 3 very active fountains.............and the summit continues to shake and shimmy. Could be a larger breakout ahead soon.

Sorry, I meant to view legally of course.

But thank you everyone for your help/

Based on these info, where are good "vantage points" from Hilo to Pahoa to see red glow at night?
