Health Care in Agadir

Can a tourist get medical assistance at the public hospital Ben Serkaou Hospital? Or just in private Hospitals / Clinics?

Thanks.

If your problem is deemed an emergency, the public hospital will (or should) treat you for free. If not, you will pay. It would be cheaper than a private clinic, of course.

However, if you are covered by your insurance for whatever it is, I would choose a private clinic.

PMAL, I am sure you talked to your doctor about the likelihood of an emergency, right?

If you have a serious pre existing condition and your worried something may happen and required specialist urgent attention.. Think again honestly about a trip to morocco.

I love morocco for many things but health care. You can't compare morocco to UK or other leading counties .. I've seen too many people die from serious illness where there chances of survival for example in British public hospitals would have been considerably greater then the public service they received here due to lack of specialist in certain areas. It's a sad reality.

Why are you asking this question anyway specifically?

PMAL

How much are you paying for your holiday health insurance seeing as you seem to have a preexisting condition? And what's the excess?

If you are apprehensive about needing medical evacuations, just stay and holiday in the EU, preferably at points north of Andorra and west of the former Soviet bloc.

Having said that, Morocco rates as number 31 of world health services, one place above Israel, according to the WHO.

Nonetheless, if I had something seriously wrong with me, I'd go back to the UK, whatever the extra costs of flying and accommodation and so on.

Gail C, Yes. My Hematologist states that i need to have the proper resources on location to deal with an emergency, or medevac to other facility in the shorter period of time. But he have no knowledge of what's available in Agadir and neither do i... so do you know?!

jamesmrichardson, I'm asking this specific question because i've a pre existing condition and as you said i'm worried about something may happen and required specialist urgent attention.

In the limit i just have to know if i need a travel insurance that medevac me direct to Portugal 24/7...

Too late to edit.

Don't ask unqualified people on a talkboard about what might or might not be available. Consult with your doctors back home as to the risks of visiting and get them to find out where you can be treated if necessary.

I'm amazed a DE has asked this and am kicking myself that I have been drawn into entertaining this nonsense.

It's awfully late in the day to be raising this.

We are volunteers on a travel site without specialist medical knowledge and it's unfair to ask our advice. This is something YOU need to be sorting out yourself. You know your condition, your insurance cover, we don't.

I am amazed someone who is a DE is asking such questions on TripAdvisor.
