Place to relax between tours

We are planning two tours in January, one in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur in January followed by a two week tour in Sri Lanka. In between tours, we would like to spend some time in a more laid back area to relax and recharge before tours. We wouldn't want to be completely idle, but jjust have a slower, tourless pace for a week or so. Rajashthan? Kerala? Mumbai? Where would you suggest? We are two Sixty plus American retired professional couples on our first trip to India and are very interested in culture and history. Thanks

Hi,

You may consider Mumbai - Goa - Kerala for a relaxed holiday .... though stop-over Mumbai may mean sightseeing & cultural tours. In Kerala, you may consider Puvar or Munnar for a break.

Why don't you add udaipur to your Delhi - Agra - Jaipur trip and do that leisurely. After that you may go to Goa to relax in some sun as North would be cold in January and then couple of days in Mumbai in the end to catch your flight to srilanka.

Tricky - Kerala is not dissimilar to Sri Lanka, so maybe you should stay in north India. I suggest Udaipur - a good city to walk around, with a few sights to see if you want to. As you have a whole week, you could do a day trip to Ranakpur/Kumbulgarh if you wanted, or a tour to Chittaurgarh Fort - but you wouldn’t need to decide until you are there. You could also combine it with a couple of nights at Udai Bilas (Dungarpur) - around 130 kms south of Udaipur, or a couple of nights at Deogarh Mahal - both good heritage hotels easily accessible from Udaipur if you don’t want to stay in one place for the whole time.
