2013 Kaohsiung Hot Air Balloon Festival
Location: Cheng Ching Lake Scenic Area, Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung will be hosting its first hot air balloon festival at Kaohsiung Cheng Ching Lake Scenic Area from 2013/07/06-2013/08/11. Cheng Ching Lake Scenic Area is comprised of Kaohsiung’s largest manmade lake-Cheng Ching Lake which was developed originally as a reservoir to meet the industrial demand for water that draws water from the Kaoping River. It is famed for its tranquil beauties, the Bridge of Nine Turns built in 1960 which measures 230 meters in length by 2.5 meters wide that includes nine right angled turns, and Jhongsing Pagoda that stands 43 meters high which offers good views of the surroundings from the top.
2013 Taiwan International Balloon Fiesta in Taitung
Location: Luye Gaotai, Taitung
2013 Taiwan International Balloon Fiesta in Taitung is to begin a bit earlier than previous years, from June 1st to August 11th, 2013 at Luye Gaotai of Taitung County in the mesmerizing East Rift Valley Scenic Area, filled by high mountains, hills, terraces, and plains, providing an ideal location for hot air balloons. Luye Gaotai is also famed for its tea, one may find the fields down the hill are most likely tea plantation. In addition, it is a popular spot for paragliding and camping.
2013 Hualien Hot Air Balloon Festival
Location: Hualien Danongdafu Forest Park
Hualien is ready to launch hot air balloons, dotting the sky with bright colors in summer, 2013! 2013 Hualien Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held at Danongdafu Forest Park in Guangfu Town of Hualien County from 2013/6/22-2013/9/1. Danongdafu Park covers an area of vast, about 1,250 hectares, featuring mesmerizing sceneries and recreation features. 15 hot air balloons will be launched on the opening day of 2013 Hualien Hot Air Balloon Festival on June 22nd 2013, along with performances of paragliding, light planes, and remote control aircrafts. Souvenirs will be given out to the first 2,000 visitors as memento. Also, limited free rides on hot air balloons will be provided.
