Thailand with kids Dec 20-Jan 4

Planning a family trip to Thailand from Dec 20 - Jan 4 that would include the parents and a 7 yr old and 10 yr old.

Question 1. At that time of year, where would be the best place to go to introduce my kids to snorkeling? Ideal situation would be snorkel right off the beach, no boat required. Is there such a thing? If not, suggestions?

Question 2. Itinerary suggestion. Like a mix of culture, beach and outdoors.

There really isn't much snorkelling directly off beaches in Thailand. You can snorkel for sure but you won't see much.

You are best sticking to the west coast and depending on what sort of holiday you want you could look at Phuket, Krabi (Koh Lanta or Ao Nang) and my favourite which is Khao Lak. KL is very quiet but perfect for a lovely family holiday.

Wherever you decide I would get booking now as it is absolute peak time in Thailand and many hotels will already be booked out.
