Planning my trip, to get the most out of the 6 days

Hey guys.

First time outside the US. I'm going to Thailand for 6 days and 6 nights. We're going to stay at a hotel in Bangkok. Some of the things I would like to do are:

Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai.

Grand Palace

Wat Arun

Wildlife Foundation

Krabi caves/beach

I wanted to do the Zipline with my friend, but he's not up for that. Can I do all of these in 6 days, realistically? Maybe just spend one or two days in Chiang Mai? What would you suggest? What else would you recommend?

Thanks for any help.

You need more days to do this.

What you need to consider are

1) the time to move from one place to another.

2) the weather in Thailand is generally hot and humid plus factor in a long flight...how are you with Jet lag.

3) what time of year are you planning

For the amount of days two locations is rushed.

Is only 6 days the total time in Thailand and then back on the plane for the ride home?

Not a lot of time for a long ride from the US. If flying from the US the first few days you will feel like crap because of all of the time changes too.

Six days is not enough time for three different parts of Thailand. (Although for some people taking a selfie photo is all they want then back on the bus for the next photo op.)

Google up distance from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Google up distance to Krabi from Chiang Mai or Bangkok. (Bangkok has 2 airports by the way.)

"What would you suggest?"

Stay longer than 6 day! From the US stay for 2 weeks at least. Also find the places you have an interest in on a map of Thailand.

I'm going in July. I guess I'll cross off Tiger Kingdom, but I really want to go to the Wildlife Foundation. Plus, at least a few temples.

So, here is what I have so far:

4th: Just rest up and maybe eat and one temple (Grand Palace)

5th: Wildlife Foundation (About 2 hours and 30 minutes from our hotel). Half day is from 10 AM- 1PM. Then back to Bangok for one temple (Wat Arun). Rest up for night life type of stuff.

Still got the 6th-9th.

For the Grand Palace you are best advise getting there at 8.30 Am when it opens. They get a lot of large tour groups through from later in the morning. Then go to Wat Arun that day

There are day tours out of Bangkok to various temples and historic locations. Choose tour one day and leave next morning. Pick up from your hotel and return when done.

Go to the Bangkok forum for specific details for that city and nearby places of interest.

This the place you want to visit or not? If so find the location on a map then work on transport.

Up to you.

Yeah, that's the place I want to go. They emailed me and said they would do a round trip for 3,500 baht. Is this worth it?

And I'm looking at tours now.

Thanks.

Hi

first time out of the US

Going this far you need at least 2 weeks to make the effort worth while. You lose a day traveling from states

but gain it back going home, Don't expect to go back to work the same day you get back usually for first time travelers to Asia from US Get jet lag really bad on return home.

6 days I would just do Bangkok and one other area.

It is totally different than USA It might take you a day or two to adjust to heat humidity and noise and chaos that is Thailand.

Make Google your friend!

Chosing only 6 days and flying from the US it appears you didn't do much research. Take the time to read up on various scams so you do not become a victim. Go to the Bangkok forum for Bangkok questions.

https:/…ShowForum-g293916-i3687-Bangkok.html

Read over the FAQs that show on the side. (If using a phone for research switch to a real computer. Not all options show on a phone that well. In the US if you don't have a real computer many libraries have one you can use for free.)

Get the basics down and not just show up like a greenhorn. Know how to exchange your currency to Thai baht., (USD do it in Thailand.) Know how to get from airport to hotel. Choose the area in Bangkok for the hotel. Bangkok is a HUGE city. Forum search will give you many posts for what area. KNOW how to use meter taxis. Often your hotel front desk people can point you in the right direction.

Have a hotel to head for for first night. There are thousands of hotels in Bangkok. Any recommendation you get is based on area location and your nightly price range. For hotel help include your nightly rate in Thai baht. (Many hotel locations on the Bangkok forum.)

Below link shows up in many posts for changing money.

Good luck.
