Great to see a time table for this, thanks Mitch!...

One can plan a little by knowing and hope they are correct, I would guess times will be approximate. .

A friend on Koh Phangan, says they are having the same ... so it's not just Samui. It seems some areas of KP power comes on about 1/2 later than at least my area of Samui (Maenam)

Cool enough we really don't need AC running... Candle lite dinners in some areas, at least most restaurants use gas, so cooking should not be a problem.

My power is on now,, but I can hear a generator at a resort about 1/2 km away, so it's very localized in some areas.

At least better than when it was off for nearly a week, (2010 I think) before the new power line came in from Kharnom.

Sure KP is suffering also, as they are powered by the same underground cable, I believe

Of course I should have added being in Thailand times may vary as per list. Last night, we where due to be off at 7pm - 9pm, but it went out at 5pm back on at 6.30 so use this is a guide only

Thailand = 3rd world

Lucky it's a tourist destinations. As providing constant electric and water seems to be a challenge here. It's a daily or weekly problem at many non tourist locations, if having at all.

I am amazed that they do as well as they do. In all the years I have been going to Thailand I have only ever see one power station. May be they build them so they don't look like power stations, who knows. But for a country with little obvious power generation or transmission I wonder where it all comes from.

Laos and Myanmar .... those poor, uneducated, backward counties ... LOL

Though a leading producer (Thai) of fossil fuels......simply not enough.

My power was on and off all afternoon, so far OK this evening (Maenam) But it was short stints.

For the most part on Samui, since the new undersea line came in,(2010 ?) there has been very few power cuts... although some areas have been worse than others, but really it's rarely off for more than half an hour.

Go to any large dam in Thailand and you can find a power station.

Following the massive repair to the undersea cable 2014, which left us with no electric for nearly 1 week, which included no money, no fuel from pumps, no garbage collection, and limited water, and tourist leaving the Island, they managed to maintain it until now. A few days ago, the main plant, blew being the result.

Quickly 8 x mobile generator where brought onto the Island and dotted around, without these things would have been far worst.

Yesterday much of the elect didnt go off as stated as above, so fingers crossed it repaired again.

Contrary to what has been posted here, electricity wasn't cut that frequently at least not here in Bangrak. We only had no electricity for a short while one afternoon.
