does anyone know if any new hotels have opened in Hue in the last year or so or if any existing ones have been refurbished?

In December it was so rainy I often didn't see past my umbrella and the roadworks in many places as the city upgraded its drainage system. And we steered clear of some streets. Then in June with different streets being worked on, I was suddenly seeing different, new hotel names. The Scarlett Boutique opened early this year or late last year. The New Star had a make-over, (I assume new ownership) and is now the Rosaleen Boutique. The Festival became part of the Emm Hotel chain. I have been in the old New Star and Festival and, going only by photos on the web, they both appear to be much improved.

A couple of forum contributors praised the Scarlett highly.

The Vina became the Serene Shining but probably that's well over a year ago now. But it is still a good option.
