Im planning to visit this summer for 8 days. I'm looking for places around the city ( particularly the center ) that are worth rhe visit but are not on the tpurist map.

Moreover I would like suggestions about:

A) beaches and siwmming pools.

B) food that I must try and bring home.

C) how much would it cost fpr a hookah( water pipe) and something to drink in city center?

D) are there cool pubs that offer wicked mocktails ( non alcoholic ) that you would reccomend?

E) late night life other than pubs and clubs?

F) souvenir shops that offer a wide varitey of products that are of reasonable prices?

Good day. We recommend you to start from Highland Park, where you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view to Baku, then visit the Old City "Icheri Sheher". You can find there traditional hammams, ancient mosques, Maiden Tower, Shirvanshah palace, art galleries and lots of nice cafes and restaurants. The other places to visit around Old City is Fountain Square, Governor's Garden, Philharmonic Hall, Baku Seaside Boulevard. There are beautiful Little Venice and Carpet Museum located at the Boulevard. All of this places located not fra from each other, and the car is not required. All of the are 5-6 mins away from each other. Approximately 10 mins away from the Boulevard you can visit the Heydar Aliyev Center - the modern part of Baku. 30-40 mins away from Baku - the fire temple Ateshgah, the burning mountain Yanardag, mud volcanoes and the National Art Preserve - Gobustan. The are at the different locations and each is 30-40 mins away from the City Center.

Suggestions:

A) beaches and siwmming pools - It may be a little bit cold water at the beaches, but anyway you can try. The season starts approximately after 5th - 10th of June. The good private beaches - Amburan Beach Club, Sea Breeze Resort, Dalga Beach.

B) food that I must try and bring home - The are lots of the good and quality restaurants at the Old City with tradiitonal food - Terrace Garden, Mangal, Art Garden, Royal Garden, Qaynana. You should defenitely try - qutabs (with meat or green), soup Dushbara, Dolma - there 2 kinds of local dolma - Yarpag Dolma its made from the grape leaves and meat, another one is 3 sisters - there are aubergine, pepper and tomato with meat inside. Variety of Kabab's - selection of tasty meat cooked on coals. The other tasty dishes are - Sadj (vegetables and meat on a frying iron pan), Sebzi Plov - Rice with meat and greens, Fisindjan Plov - Rice with nuts and meat balls. Also try vegetables, Kompot (homemade juice) and Azerbaijani tea with local pastries and jams.

C) how much would it cost fpr a hookah( water pipe) and something to drink in city center? - The price of the Hookah is approximately 20 - 50 AZN. Depends on the place.

D) souvenir shops that offer a wide varitey of products that are of reasonable prices? - You can find all of them at the Old City.
