Solo female- day suggestions

Hi all,

I am staying in Phnom Penh currently and in a hostel. I have asked the staff for suggestions but haven't found them overly helpful.

How much would I expect to pay for a tuk tuk to take me around for the day? I have read about $20usd? If I go to the killing fields where else should I ask them to take me while I have the tuk tuk driver?

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks so much!

Do I expect the tuk tuk to hang around while I go to all those things and then I just meet him when I'm done?

What is the recommended tip?

Yes Shay, if you've hired him for the day he will wait for you outside each place you visit for as long as you need. Don't feel that you need to rush or hurry. In the middle of the trip you could ask hi to take you to a restaurant or for some street food for a lunch break. If you're getting along well, you could ask him to join you although he may or may not accept.

Giving a tip is not an automatic expectation. Depending on how he has looked after you, you could perhaps give him an extra dollar or two.

The National Museum is also nice. Quiet with exhibits from Angor and elsewhere with explanations that you can get up close to.

John your last post made me laugh!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have found everyone friendly and haven't felt too unsure at any point yet. But I guess like anywhere, you just shouldn't be going around waving your possessions for the world to see.
