Honeymoon Sri Lanka and Maldives

Hello, apologies in advance for being repetitive but my husband and I (ooh) have decided on the above destinations for our honeymoon next Feb (for weather purposes), a week to 9 days in Sri Lanka and then 5 days in the Maldives. I have contacted the following companies for advice as we have no idea of what to see in Sri Lanka in our limited time or what island to visit. (Magic of Maldives no response, Simply Maldives - a response asking for further details then nothing) Purely Maldives - no response) as yet. We have never planned such a trip and would appreciate any pointers or even other posts with the info as I don't wish to annoy!! Travelling from UK, both in our 40's, like a mixture of culture and wildlife for Sri Lanka, Maldives - snorkling (husband) relaxing - me! Both like good food and would prefer adult only or age restricted hotel in Maldives but want the best we can get for our budget (£4000 max each for entire holiday). Would appreciate any advice, links or recommendations. Thank you

The Holiday Place had a good deal recently for these destinations using Taj Hotels - one week all inc in Maldives and one week b&b in Sri Lanka. They might not be your preferred hotels but when I made similar enquiries with specialist companies they were happy to assist.

I always get a prompt reply from Magic of Maldives. It depends what season you are going in but you should get a nice trip for your budget.

We have a trip planned for September 8 nights in Sri Lanka for about 1300 GBP each. You can of course spend more last time we did 11 nights at all the top places. Aman's and top boutique hotels and spent about 3000GBP each.

I am pretty happy with our choices this time even though we were working to a budget. So if you spent say 3000 in Sri Lanka and 5000 in Maldives.

We are concentrating on wildlife and culture this time. Last time we did many of the World Heritage sites this time we will only do a handful but have 3 days of Safaris.

PM me if you want I can email you our itinerary

Hi! we want to do such a circuit in November. But four nights in Sri Lanka and 5 nights in Maldives. We have a low budget. In maldive we will choose a local island i think.

For Sri Lanka I got a route from the agency. Now I'm trying to see how complex it would be.

For Sri Lanka We have included the first day in Colombo at acoomodation at Jet Wing Comlombo Seven.

Day 2-The shelter of elephants at Pinawella, Dambulla

Accommodation at Jet Wing Lake Dambulla

Day 3 -4-Sigyria, Kandy

Accommodation at Earls Regent Kandy Day 5-Before the flight we will visit Colombo.

Everything we visit in the above settlements is established by the agency, and we will have the car and driver.

What is not included and I wish it would be a train journey.

I would like to receive more information but I have not found.

Hi

Just some general advice based on my 14 visits to The Maldives this is purely based on my personal preferences

A house reef is very important for snorkelling and marine life.

I prefer a beach villa to a water villa (many will disagree) my reasons are: You feel les restricted as with a water villa you only have your deck which may not get sun at certain times of day. Most resorts have allocated sun loungers for each room on the beach so if in a WV you may be restricted to certain areas like the pool or a crowded section of sun loungers on the beach.

In windy weather WV can be noisy and sway a bit with the waves.

Wooden walkways and decks get extremely hot forcing you to wear something on your feet.

You usually save money by having a beach villa.

A pool is not necessary the water is crystal clear and very warm.

All inclusive is not always the best option in The Maldives as it is often quite limited this Varys from resorts and depends on your consumption.

Two islands I love that will fit your budget (both are rustic as I love the desert island feels)

Angaga

Reethi Beach

The Maldives is truly magical and for me it is about the beauty, nature and the no news no shoes experience I really don’t need marble, flat screen TVs or Jacquzi they simply detract from the experience sometimes less is more.
