Which resort/Island to stay at?

Hello,

Early 30s couple looking for a nice ~1.5 week stay in the Maldives in September (can be at 1 or 2 different places) with snorkeling, diving, water sports, etc things to do and 5 star accommodation. No kids. No budget. What would you do with no limitations?

Hi Jenna S

Welcome to the Maldives Forum.

Recommending a Resort for someone else can be tricky as what may suit one person may not suit another.

If you check the "Top questions about Maldives" in the right hand column there are many posts relating to "Which Resort Island should we choose" - "Adults Only Resorts" - "Resorts with the Best House Reef" etc these will help you narrow down your selection.

When you say "No Budget" I take it you mean from your further comment that your Budget is unlimited. Prices go from hundreds of US$ a night to thousands of US$ a night but paying more per night doesn't mean it will be right for you.

Sorry I cant be of more help but good luck in your search, I find it's half the fun in planning a vacation.

Sadly I have limitations...

But if I had less of them I would look at Milaidhoo and Kandolhu. I believe the W has a no under 13 policy.

Hurawalhi is adults only and looks lovely.

Huvafen Fushi and Baros do not welcome young children although Baros does accept over 8.

Komandoo is adults only but a sold 4 star not 5 star.

Of all of these I have only been to Komandoo but would visit the others in a hearbeat once my limitations become less limiting!

If "no kids" is a must you'll be limiting your choices quite significantly and in my opinion without any need to do so. There are only a few "adult only" resorts in The Maldives and a few more that have, for example a "no children under 9" policy.

We're currently on Outrigger Konotta, a fabulous 5* resort and we haven't seen one child in the 6 days we've been here. We are absolutely loving our stay and the island and would suggest this as a possibility for you.

Milaidhoo is a great recommendation; it looks amazing and there's a fabulous offer on the Magic of Maldives (Maldives specialist travel agent based in the UK who's highly recommended by forum members). The offer is 50% off stays until October with free seaplane transfers included, which is pretty amazing.

The Maldives Specialist agents such as Purely Maldives, Simply Maldives and Paula at Magic of Maldives know the Maldives resorts very well indeed and I'd highly recommend sharing your "Wishlist" with them and having them share their recommendations with you.

I think the Milaidhoo offer is pretty stunning and if my lottery numbers came up I'd definitely be returning to The Maldives before October to visit this resort..... note to self; start buying lottery tickets!

Hope that's a help.

It really depends on what is important to you. Best diving is probably in South Ari. Having looked at most places in South Ari they are not the most luxurious resorts.

Huvafen is one of my favourite island and does not accept guests under 21. How experienced diver are you? Male atoll dive sites are not the most exciting. If you are an experienced diver.

I would suggest the following Combo:

Huvafen Fushi and Gili Lankanfushi Lagoon Villa Suite

Gili is not AO, but magical island to be on. Velaa Private island is another choice for ultimate luxury and the most beautiful villas in the country.

If you want luxury, snorkeling, diving and no (smaller) kids around, then Milaidhoo and Huvafen Fushi are the combo which ticks all your boxes. In Baa Atoll is still Manta Season during that time of year, thus with a little luck you will have some very promising encounters at Hanifaru Bay.

Huvafen Fushi, we found a very good place for snorkeling, escpecially if you are into sharks and turtles and a (really impressive) coral cemetary.

Both resorts are quite luxurious, but make sure that you stay in an Ocean Bungalow with Pool at Huvafen. The views are breath taking.

No regrets whatsoever Darryl; we have truly found our piece of paradise 😃. The domestic flight was fine; it made a big difference having use of the Moonima Lounge to take a shower and chill between flights. The boat transfer was a bit bumpy but only half an hour or so and really fine. We loved our three visits to. RB and have the fondest memories of the resort and staff, but OK really is the stuff of dreams in every level. I don’t believe RF will figure in future holidays and know that the decision we made was absolutely the right one for us. Hope the same will be true for you 🏖🐬🍾🛶🐠🍸

I’m with placitasgirl - not literally, of course, I’m in the uk...but off to konotta for my birthday, and that milaidhoo offer promoted me to get out my calculator and calendar! Still too much for me though unless the lottery is kind.
