First timer and no idea which island to choose

My ideal is not too built up but not so small we can walk around it in 5 minutes

I would like a choice of restaurants not just 1

i would like an over water villa

i would prefer no children ( though depends how many are likely to bother in february)

I would like all inclusive.

Is it best to island hop do 2 days on a few islands or a week on just one ?

I have heard some resorts have rubbish or islands in distance id rather it be clear

I don't want to spend more that £10,000 all in for the week including everything food drink travel flights etc

These are the islands I look dat and responses i got from he travel agent

Evening Christine,

I’ve contacted our very best in-house supplier. She is based in Mauritius and very knowledgable in the Indian Ocean and she advises on the following:

Centara Ras Fushi is classed as child free but it is 4* - I know you wanted 5*

Cocoa island - Don’t offer all inclusive and not kid free

Kandolhu - Don’t offer all inclusive and not kid free

Huvasen Fushi - Adult only but not all inclusive

Antara Kihavah - Don’t offer all inclusive and not kid free

Gill Lankanfushi - No all inclusive but kid free in the sense that you are in the middle of the ocean

Niyama - Has a kids club and is not all inclusive

Milaidhoo- Adult only but no all inclusive

Athuruga - Not familiar with so have e-mailed the hotel directly

Baros - Adult only but no all inclusive

So in summary its not easy to find all inclusive and guarantee no children.

However Anantara Veli is all inclusive and adult only section guaranteed and overwater!!

I have requested a quote for this and will come back to you.

https://www.anantara.com/en/veli-maldives

Ive had this reply.

If I don't do all inclusive is it very expensive ? it it better to be child free or all inclusive - are there really a lot of children on the islands in february ? Sorry for all the questions

For a start dump your agent and go to one of the ones recommended on here. Centara overlooks rubbish island and both Millaidhoo and Kandolhu do offer AI. Athuruga is a very popular choice and I'm sure other regulars will be along soon to offer more advice.

I agree

If you have told your agent that you don't want built up or see any rubbish burning and they then offer CRF the alarm bells would ring.

Take a look at Outrigger knotta and Komandoo for starters...

With her budget, she can do better than Komandoo and many islands mentioned on the list.

Milaidhoo and/or Huvafen are amazing options.

Wow, I'd agree that you need to move on from your current agent. Make contact with some off the Maldives specialist agents int the UK that forum members use regularly and highly recommend; Purely Maldives (we've used them three times and they're fabulous), Simply Maldives, Magic of Maldives are a great place to start.

These agents will work with you and your Wishlist to make sure you're getting the most for your money and the perfect fit from your resort.

We're currently on Outrigger Konotta and it would definitely tick your boxes. It's a stunning island with a fabulous reef and an outstanding team of staff. The food is simply fabulous, the villas all have private pools and we feel we have found our piece of paradise. It is low season but we feel we have the island to ourselves most of the time. It's a domestic flight and boat transfer on from Male and not a resort that would scream out to families with young children; although it does have a small play centre/splashpool. There are no children here at the moment, but you'd need to try to avoid February half term for your trip "just in case".

There spa here is also lovely, and there's the added bonus of a stunning hydrotherapy pool which we've used a couple of times and really enjoyed.

Good luck with your search; I'm sure once you get to work with some of the agents we've mentioned you'll most definitely start heading in the right direction.

I agree Azure lagoon but highly doubt they'll be in budget for February. UK Kuoni pricing is showing Millaidhoo at £8.5k pp for a week and assume OP's budget is for 2. Travellab got me a cracking deal last year for Millaidhoo but doubt even Jai could discount by 40% in Feb!

To be fair the OP said they didn't want to spend more than 10k so I assumed spending less would be desirable. I still think Outrigger and Komandoo are 2 good options.

Konotta is a domestic flight from Male to Kaadedhdhoo

Around 5 flights per day - some direct (50 mins) some with 1 stop (1h 40mins)

Once at Kaadedhdhoo - 30 min boat to Konotta

Konotta staff meet and escort you at Male.

I wouldn’t say it was “hard” to get to; our transfers last Sunday worked brilliantly. Time to shower & change in the Moonima Lounge at the domestic terminal on arrival, 1 hour flight, straight on the boat and in resort 30 minutes later. We’re really enjoying being a bit further out; no seaplane noise, no aircraft overhead and from the sunrise side if the island there is nothing but ocean. Pretty darned perfect!

No more onerous than a seaplane, Placitasgirl?
