24 hours transit visa? How does it work?

Hey guys,

I'll have a 20 hour layover in Muscat and would like to stay in a hotel. At the Royal Oman Police website I found information on "Airport Transit Visa 1D-3D". Eligible for "Short visit for an airline passenger transiting through Oman on the way to a third country" and "Applications for this visa can be submitted on arrival at the border in Oman."

Does anyone have ever got such a visa? How did you guys went out of the airport to a hotel for the layover? Was it easy?

I would greatly appreciate your insight :)

According to the website this is Visa Code 23A. As you say the website states:

302. Applications for this visa can be submitted on arrival at the border in Oman.

However, it also states:

101. Must be outside the Sultanate of Oman at time of application.

In addition, despite being in the unsponsored visitor section of the Evisa website it further states:

210. Must be sponsored by an airline which operates in Oman.

The website seems to be full of contradictions ... I’m afraid I can shed no light on this at all. Hopefully others may be able to help.
