Few hours in Yangon with a backpack?

I'm flying into Yangon early morning and would like to just spend a day to see the Schwedagon Pagoda before taking the night bus to Bagan. Can anyone recommend the best way to go about this without carrying my backpack the entire day (in the sweaty July heat!). Also, anyone know of a place near the JJ bus station where we could pay for a shower before the overnight bus journey?

So far I didn't hear the bag storage services in Yangon yet. Unfortunately you need to bring along your bag with you.

There is a public shower place in Bus interchange on previously. But I am not sure it is still available or not.

You can leave your bag if you buy your bus ticket from shops opposite main train station, then you can take a pick-up for $1 to bus station. Of course don't leave any money or valuables inside the bag but Myanmar is very safe country.

I am not sure of your budget, but I would seriously consider checking into a hostel nearby. You can leave your bag and make use of the shower facilities before getting on the night bus.

You can have a shower in JJ station as I cleaned face, hands and legs in bus station I used.

You don't have to get worry to leave the bag at "i-counter of Ministry of Tourism" near Mahabandola garden. But you have to clear what are inside your bag to an official. That's all. Security is a concern.

Hi KP,

Any suggested itinerary in the day bef the night bus?

Also, where can we purchase the tickets for the night bus since we will not be booking a hotel?

Hi Rck92,

Would be better to know your arrival flight. SQ and Jestar touch down around 10AM. If these, here....

Major attractions

> Chauk Htet gyi reclining Buddha

> Aung San Museum

> Downtown walk (Better in the morning and evening due to noon/after heat) But SG is normally the same as RGN.

> National Museum

> Bogyoke market

> ShweDagon Pagoda

I think these are alot to fit in your interval time bfr your Night Bus.

If PM flights were yours, you don't think of a trip to downtown and rather spend in Airport and directly check in the bus station. Think of traffic, Rush hours, friend...

I am also curious about this, as I will be landing at 6am, and thinking of taking the bus to Bagan at 8pm. I will have a backpack, but my boyfriend will have a suitcase. We would like to actually see some sights and not stay near the airport.
