Ferry From Mokpo to Jeju

Hi guys,

I'll be driving myself in South Korea and planning to go Jeju Island by ferry. I've been looking around and I'm interested in Queen Mary in particular. Problem is, I don't know how to book it from overseas (except for calling) and how much it costs for 2 pax and a car. Anyone can help me out?

Hi Reclat,

I forgot to ask.. The price that you gave me... The car price is strictly for car? Which means say if I want a standard room, I have to pay 101,000won x 2 person +126,920won on a weekday? Is the price for one-way or two? What if I don't want a room?

I'm not sure about the toll charges, usually there is person to help with it at the toll gate. If you just stay for short period and don't use many toll way, i suggest just pay the toll as you go. Otherwise you may purchase Hi Pass, the post-paid card for toll.

About the ferry, yes.. the price is for car.

Here the calculation for 2 pax & car (weekdays) :

- Standard room : 101,000won + 126,920won = 227,920won (one way)

- No room : (38,400won x 2person) + 126,920won = 203,720won (one way)

As you can see there is not much different, i would suggest you to book the room rather than seats.

Also there is maximum 30% discount if you purchase return ticket (+/- car).

Happy planning !!

The ferry's pretty expensive... Is the flight about this cost?

Also, do you personally recommend other ferries?

I've read reviews about the other 2 ferries and noticed that quite a number got seasick boarding the others. What do you think? Have you personally tried them? Is it that bad?

I never use ferry to Jeju, i always fly to Jeju, only an hour from Seoul either by Asiana or Korean Air. So i have no idea about budget airlines such as Estarjet, Jin Air, etc.

Yes.. your ferry cost would be higher than taking flight, that's because you are bringing you own car to Jeju as well. IMO, you might as well fly to Jeju and upon arriving at the airport, you could rent a car.

That was what I was thinking...

But well, I'll be driving all around South Korea..

So there's no point in flying. Unless I'm in that area.

Maybe I should park the car at Mokpo.. But then again, I'll have to rent another car in Jeju.. Might cost more this way.. =\
