Two weeks in Bali

Hi,

We are looking to visit Bali next May (2019) for two weeks. We want to see and experience a lot of the culture in bali but then we also want time to sit on beautiful white sand beaches.

Please can people let us know an ideal itinerary to meet what we want?

Have a look at the pinned posts to begin with and see what areas appeal to you.

You really must do your own research. TA is not a travel agency. We're just a bunch of holiday makers and don't know you at all; your likes, dislikes, budget etc. When you research, research and put together an itinerary, if you have specific questions, and people have experienced same, TA members are happy to help. Be aware that Bali is not famed for its beaches.

Hi Chelsey,

firstly please stay away from UK Travel agents. They push limited hotels in Bali and you'll end up in Nusa Dua for 2 weeks.

Book flights/hotels yourself on Expedia/Tripadvisor/whatever.

Transfers and tours easily arranged in Bali with local private drivers.

As mentioned above you have to do some research and see what interests you personally. Different areas of Bali offer differ interests/sights/activities. You can't really stay in one area and do/see everything.

Purely as an example I dive and my wife likes to snorkel so we visit those areas of Bali.

The snorkeling/Diving area is mainly North East to North west Bali. There is no snorkeling down south. There is a lot of surfing down south but no surfing up north.

Also bear in mind that you will not average much more than 20mph even on longer straight journeys with minimum traffic.

e.g. Ubud is only 25miles from DPS/Kuta but invariably take 1h30

We transfer directly to Amed on landing. It is not even 60miles but invariably takes the best part of 3hrs

Bali is not famed for its beaches. Cornwall has far better beaches (just a lot colder). Bali can offer lots of stuff culturally as well as activities.

But for a start with 2 weeks you could easily do

UBUD - "an Island" - "southern resort"

'an Island' can be Gilis or Lembongan or Penida (Penida has less tourist infrastructure).

And Islands easily done as ALL fastboat companies will offer some sort of free pickup (and dropoff on return) from Ubud (this si sometimes central point pickup) and all major 'southern resorts' Hotels so you don't have to worry about getting to/from boats.

NUSA DUA

Is a manufactured Hotel area. Mostly 5* AI style resorts with often little to nothing outside except another Hotel or a service road. It is the most expensive part of Bali especially as the Hotels can play on their "isolation" when it comes to prices.

Does have the best maintained beach area on Bali.

OK if it is the end of your holiday and want to relax a bit.

There are a couple of areas of Nusa Dua/Bneoa where you'll find some local bars/cafes on the street with non-rip offprices
