13-day trip itinerary - opinions and advices?

13-day trip itinerary - opinions and advices?

Hello guys,

I'm travelling to Bali with my girlfriend in September for 13 days.I want to share our plan with you and to give me some feedback. After we arrive at the airport we will go to Ubud for 4 nights and visit:Monkey forest, Tegenungan waterfall,Elephant cave temple,Tegallalang Rice Terraces,Tirta Empul Temple,Lake Batur,Bali Marine and Safari Park. After that we are thinking of heading to Gili Trawangan for 3 nights, do some snorkeling and diving and mostly relaxing. After Gili we want to visit Nusa Penida for 3 nights(Kelingking Beach,Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong,Secret Point Beach,Blue lagoon, do some manta rays diving).I know that some things are not exactly in Nusa Penida and we heard it is not so touristy in Penida and we dont know whether to stay in Nusa Lembongan and do day trips to Penida or to stay in Penida island for 3 nights. After Nusa Penida/Lembongan we are heading to Kuta/Seminyak(not decided yet where exactly so any suggestions will be appreciated) for 2 nights to be closer to the airport. What do you guys think? Is it possible to do everything and still relax enough,we would like to see as mush as we can and still relax(it is a vacation at the end right),do some snorkeling, diving, and activities. Can you recommend which temples, waterfalls and beaches are worth to visit? Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated.

Moving around is a personal thing and up to you.

Are you dive qualified. If so what level/experience. Where do you want to dive.

Easy diving around the Gilis.

On Gili T you can snorkel directly in front of the Danima resort with turtles. Also you can get snorkeling trips with locals for 2-3hrs around Gilis for IDR200k

If staying on Lembongan can also get dive trips to Penida including Manta Bay/Point, Crystal bay and other sites.

Some diving is AOWD minimum.

Currents can be very strong around Penida.

Cold upwellings around Penida not unusual. Results in pushing the diver upwards so sometimes better to be overweighted. Has the benefit that the Mola Mola comes up with these upwellings and can be spotted certain times of year (September likely) at around 20m.

Thermoclines around 18-20m not unusual with sudden drop in Water temperature 27C to 18C sometimes colder.

The shelf around Penida quickly drops off to 250m then 1300m.

In some instances these unusual upwellings cause reverse currents resulting in pulling divers down.

All fastboat services will include some sort of free pickup and dropoff on return to/from Ubud and all major "southern resorts" hotels.

Fastboat company will pick you up in Ubud and transfer you to Padangbai for departure. Padangbai to Gili T 1h15 ish

www.baliekajaya.com often touted at the tourist booths in Ubud. Just book once in Ubud. Standard single IDR450k. Can haggle price down a bit.

There are a couple of direct services from Gilis to Lembongan.

www.bluewater-express.com and www.scootcruise.com

Cost IDR600-700k ish

There are no direct services to Penida. Your only options are to take the Lembongan fast boat service then take a local boat transfer from Jungut batu (expect to pay IDR300k).

Take the Gili - Padangbai service then wait for the big RORO ferry to Toyapakeh at 17:30

Number of fastboat services from Penida to Sanur. Main companies Maruti (most expensive), MolaMola and Caspla. Can book single tickets at a tourist booth in Penida.

Thank you for you answer!

We have dived twice so not so experienced.Maybe will take the option at the Gilis with turtles-sounds amazing. Also i’m sure whether to stay at Nusa Lembongan and take day trips to Penida because we want to visit a lot of things which cant be done in a day trip.
